Established in 2005, Maria Bianchi Social Care Ministry is a non-profit organization founded by Kina Lucy and Psiina Elizabeth Rang in Senapati, one of the most backward districts of Manipur, where 97% of the population are tribals. The community has long faced social unrest, economic hardship, and gender discrimination, challenges that deeply affect women and children. In response, the organization was founded to uplift women, promote gender equality, protect tribal rights, and restore peace and harmony for future generations.
The organization strives to reach out to the weaker sections of society, irrespective of caste, creed, tribe, or political affiliation. It provides care and shelter for destitute persons, the aged, and the differently abled, while also conducting vocational and technical training programs to empower youth through employment and entrepreneurship. The organization actively creates awareness on issues such as drug addiction, prostitution, HIV/AIDS, and other social evils, and implements literacy programs in rural areas.
Committed to environmental protection and human rights, Maria Bianchi Social Care Ministry works to promote ecological balance, safeguard women’s and children’s rights, and uphold equality in education and property. Through continuous efforts in community development, cultural preservation, and peacebuilding, the organization envisions a society rooted in compassion, dignity, and mutual respect.
We organized a one-day orientation on project management at Shalom Hall, MBC Imphal. The program was attended by 53 Naga indigenous women leaders from diverse backgrounds across Manipur.
The orientation aimed to equip participants with essential knowledge and skills for effective project management. Ms. Thingreiphi Lungharwo, President of Tangkhul Shanao Long, facilitated the session, sharing her extensive expertise on project management processes and tools. She emphasized key stages including initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, evaluating, and closing projects.
Participants actively engaged in interactive discussions and a Q&A session, providing valuable insights and feedback. The orientation successfully enhanced the project management capabilities of the participants, providing foundational skills to improve the planning and execution of current and future projects.
We conducted a five-day awareness program at various villages in Senapati district to promote children’s health and education. Representatives from district child health programs, including ASHA workers, Anganwadi staff, and primary school nurses, participated in the workshops.
The program was facilitated by Mr. Shing Jerome, who trained nominated representatives from each village on the importance of balanced nutrition for children under twelve. Participants learned about malnutrition, common childhood diseases, and strategies to improve children’s health.
The training also emphasized the importance of equal education for boys and girls, highlighting the literacy gap in the district and encouraging parents to prioritize education for all children. After the initial training, the representatives carried the knowledge to village levels, spreading awareness about children’s nutrition and education.
We conducted a three-day Women Empowerment Program at Senapati Maram Union, attended by 29 participants from different communities. The program, facilitated by Ms. Psiina Elizabeth, focused on building women’s capacity and raising awareness about their rights. Participants were encouraged to understand and advocate for their rights, fight for justice, and take initiative in promoting women’s empowerment within their villages, towns, and the district.
